Truckee's Ice Carnival - 1896
In a February 1896 magazine called THE TRAVELER, published in San Francisco, CA, there was a very interesting article about the “Monster Icicle”, Truckee’s Ice Carnival, the Rocking Stone, and winter sleigh rides to Donner Lake. One of our intrepid researchers, and once again Ron, you know who you are, found this story by Emma Seckle Marshall. The article is on pp. 20-1. Do take some time to read this article as it offers the reader a visual glimpse of the Truckee’s Winter activities in the year 1896.
