The Sierra Sun “Best of …” Contest
The “Best of North Tahoe and Truckee” contest covers the best businesses, services, and professionals in this area. It invites the community to celebrate the organizations that matter most to Sierra Sun readers.
The Museum of Truckee History (MoTH) has been nominated for the first time as the “Best Museum/Historic Site”.
Why We Want to Win
This competition is incredibly important to us since we want to preserve Truckee’s history and let new visitors and locals know about this fabulous museum. MoTH is also a great resource for what has worked in the past and how Truckee continues to evolve for the future. This recognition will help us educate visitors about our fabulous Historic Mountain Town.
How You Can Help
It’s pretty simple. From May 1 until May 15 we need you to vote for the MoTH each and every day.
Rules are that you can vote only once a day but you can do it every day. It is the passionate base of MoTH supporters who vote every day for 15 days that will help us win this competition.

Why Should you support MoTH to win?
Our local museum covers a broad range of Truckee history including indigenous peoples, the transcontinental railroad, the Chinese of Truckee, lumber/logging, making and selling ice, California’s first lager beer, evolution of winter sports, the 1960 Olympics, creation of the town of Truckee, and more! Through interactive displays and original artifacts, we tell factual stories of our town.
The museum appeals to a wide range of age groups and interest. The local elementary schools get special tours to help share with the children their town’s colorful history.
The museum exemplifies Truckee as a Historic Mountain Town. It is open all year round and run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Admission is free.
If you have any questions, you can email [email protected] or email [email protected].
We sincerely appreciate your support in helping to keep the Museum of Truckee History an integral part of the community.
